It is pretty ironic and sad how our priorities on occasion back-fire. A lot of parents I know will work from dawn until dusk each day to provide the best future for their kids, yet by doing this they may be hurting their children more than assisting them. The first time I purchased my children audio books on cd was when I was traveling on a business trip for some weeks. I had been reading to my daughter from the same book every single night for a week or two, and we were almost halfway finished with it. She was very sad to see me go, and I knew that she would truly miss that tale. On a whim, I went to the local audiobook store and found out that I could get a copy of it. At first, she was a tad bit nervous about listening to the children audio-book. She told me that she wanted to hear me reading it, not some tape-recorder. Nevertheless, when she puzzled out that I was not going to stay it doesn't matter how much she begged and pleaded, she relented and made the decision to listen to the kids audio books.
She actually really enjoyed it. I like to believe that she still likes the way I read more than she enjoys children books on cd, but I bet it is a close-call. The children audio-book readers are awesome. My diction is not bad, and I am a pretty expressive reader, but these are true skilled performers. Your average run of the mill father just simply cannot compete! They know exactly how to read children books to make them thrilling and engaging, keeping your kids on the edge til the very last page. Although my little girl is still unhappy when I go out of town, the kids audio-books make my trip a tad easier on her. Both of us are very pleased about that.
