Hair Loss Dermatitis: What exactly is it?
Dermatitis of the scalp or hair loss dermatitis is a disorder of the scalp with redness of the scalp surface and scaling skin as the main symptoms. Inflammation of the scalp due to sebbhoreic dermatitis can also be the main culprit in hair loss dermatitis. Another likely cause is traction alopecia. Traction alopecia is a form of hair loss due to the constant pulling and scratching of the scalp. Hair loss through dermatitis not only affects the scalp hair but may also affect hair in the eyebrows as well. Some people who have sebbhoreic dermatitis also experienced loss of their eyebrows by clumps or one at a time. In such cases, the itching and the scratching may not cause the scalp hair and eyebrow hair loss. Rather the hair loss can be due to the flaking and the inflammation of the scalp. Treatment for sebbhoreic dermatitis is as easy as visiting your dermatologist and asking for a diagnosis. The correct diagnosis is essential for effecting the right treatment because there may be other underlying causes instead of the very obvious hair loss dermatitis. Some type of hair loss may need more complicated treatment such as laser treatment and hair transplants.
